Taylor Swift Bio
Taylor Swift Moves Fearlessly in the Country Music Scene
This young country girl has experienced success at an early age. Born on December 13, 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania, Taylor Alison Swift was destined to stardom.
At an early age, Taylor discovered her love for music—country music, to be specific. Looking up to country legends like Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline, this young girl, at the age of 10, started performing in her hometown at fairs, festivals, and even karaoke contests.
Because she was so inclined and talented in music, Taylor started writing songs at the age of 12. When her parents discovered Taylor’s passion for music, they decided to provide her all the support she’ll need to make a career out of music.
They made several trips in Nashville. When she turned 14, she was able to land a deal with Sony/ATV. She was the youngest songwriter to ever sign a publishing deal. This development prompted the family to move and live in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Her big break came when Scott Borchetta, who was then still trying to launch his label, saw Taylor perform at a showcase at the Bluebird Café. That was when he decided to give Taylor the break she needs and signed her up under the “Big Machine Records” label.
This was the start of a successful career for the young girl. At the ripe age of 16, she released her self-titled album, where she wrote or co-wrote all of the 11 tracks. “Tim McGraw,” the first single of the album is currently at a Top 20 hit.
The album debuted at number 3, but after 39 weeks, it landed at the top spot of the charts and sold over 2.5 million copies. It earned the young singer/songwriter a Platinum award. The Taylor Swift Music era has truly begun!
2007 proved to be Taylor’s year. It was during this year when her album hit the platinum status. Because of the album’s success, her label decided to release a repackaged edition, which included some new songs and music videos.
She was set to go on tour with Brad Paisley when she received her first award from the CMT Music Awards for “Breakthrough Video” for her first single. Late in 2007, she performed in front of the real Tim McGraw at the ACM awards where she also won as Best New Female Artist. She won the Horizon Awards at the CMA in November that same year.
Another single, “Our Song” became Taylor’s first number one hit. It was so successful it stayed at the top for six weeks.
Her early success seemed not to take a break as she was on tour with another award-winning country act, Rascal Flatts, the next year. Her sophomore album, “Fearless,” was released in 2008; and just like her first album, we can expect more triumph for this talented, young superstar.
